Native American Prayer

This Native American Prayer was read by my son at my Dad's memorial service on March 17, 2007. he died on March 8th, 2007, very unexpectedly. It has been a rough year for me. I wanted to post this on March 8th, but I lost my copy of the prayer. I found it today while cleaning around the computer. I have always been fascinated by the indian, my dad helped breed that in me. He told me stories while growing up about them and introduced me to the "hollywood" cowboy, as well as the real ones. We have Sioux blood in us. My Great Grandfather was half Sioux. It is also said that Jesse James is in my family line. I have been digging to find this, to see if it is true. My greatgrand mother was a James.....I have yet to finish her line..... Anyway, here is the Prayer:

I give you this one thought to keep-

               I am with you still

                 I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift, uplifting rush

                             of

        quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone-

                  I am with you still-

                  In each new dawn.

MY DAD
